The Swedish Electrolux has 3 factories in Italy (of the former Zanussi group), and was willing to close one of them (1,500 workers) and give to the other workers a reduction of salary of the 50%, to make their salaries same as those of their Polish workers, since it's renowned that the cost of life in Italy is same as in Poland. It would have meant an average €800 per month, instead of €1,600. This was their first offer 3 months ago. Then, three months of strikes and the leader of the Unions succeding in getting a meeting with the Government, and to make it short today Electrolux announced that they will not be closing any Italian factory, on the contrary they will make investments to improve the quality of the products, and the only workers of the factory that was to be closed will have a reduction of two hours per day, whose value will be compensated by the Government. Thank God, and thanks to the Unions. I hope my company learns something from this, since they are most willing to move all production to Russia, China and Czech Republic...
